Philippines singer-actor Jay-R was part of that group who went inside the railroad tunnel with some friends and relatives including his girlfriend. One of which was killed in that tragic accident.
Here's some of what Jay-R mother said in one interview:
"Last Sunday, the 11th, they went hiking in the afternoon after church. Tapos, nag-end up sila doon sa canyon dito sa Chatsworth. They were six people. Meron tunnel do'n and it looks like abandoned. Pero before they went in, they were able to talk to some people around. May mga bata na nag-in and out sa tunnel. And then they were able to talk to a lady with a child. Tinanong nila kung ano ang meron dun sa loob. And sabi naman nung ano, nothing except for bats and graffiti.
"So, sila naman, naging curious yata sila. Tapos sila, ‘C'mon guys, we check it out.' Then, in the middle nung walk nila, nung hike, narinig na nila yung [Amtrak passenger] train dumarating. And it so happened na ang distance between the wall and the train, like three feet. So nag-panic silang lahat na anim. Tapos ano, yun... Unfortunately, yung isa sa kanila, si Myra, was hit by the grab bar of the train and she died on the spot," malungkot na salaysay ni Mrs. Sillona.
Myra Theresa Mina-Calove was the sister-in-law of Jay-R's girlfriend, Eliza Calove.
"Everybody...everybody is devastated. Jay-R is having a difficult time. As you know, he experienced something that people would never experience in their life. It's very traumatic," saad ni Mrs. Sillona.
"Right now, it's indefinite," sagot ng ina ng singer. "Kasi, we are trying to...we are doing best to move on with our lives. He's trying to be strong for himself, for Lisa, and her family. And you know, my family, the whole family, we feel so much for the Calove family, most especially."
Hindi naman itinanggi ng mommy ni Jay-R that right now, her son is undergoing some professional counseling.
"Yes, that's the major or the priority right now, to seek professional counseling in order for them to feel better... To Jay-R's fans, friends, and family, from the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all of them for their support and prayers. For the Sillona and mostly for the Calove family. We really appreciate it."
In relation to this I found an articles giving us the full details of what happened.
